X-Wife - Are you ready for the blackout? 2008
"X-Wife is a rock band from Portugal. Current members are, João Vieira (vocals/guitar), Fernando Sousa (bass), Rui Maia (Synthesizers/ drums/drum machine)".
"After long conversations about music, João Vieira and Fernando Sousa (at the time in a band called Stealing Orchestra), decide to start jamming together. After meeting Rui Maia in a bar, X-Wife was complete (the official date of birth of X-Wife is March 2002). Starting from a set of demos that Vieira recorded in a minidisc while in London, the band initiates their rehearsals. In one of those rehearsals a record label (Nortesul) manager shows up (by indication of a mutual friend) and two months after a record deal is presented to the trio". Are you ready for the blackout? is the third album of the band.

Well, my friends, Pirika :: My Music is about to complete the first anniversary and while reaching the symbolic mark of 20,000 visitors, here it is time to change a little the course of this blog.
This decision is based on the questionnaire made on the blog itself (although very little competitive) but also on the basis of email received, held conversations with other bloggers, and especially with the lack of time that the writers of this blog have had at this time.
This way, the posts will go to suffer some changes to its structure. Instead of writing a bit about the band or artist to make a critical to the subject matter, we will put one or two links to other sites, these sites approved and with the same view, with the same ideology of Pirika :: My Music.
We will continue to publish only what we feel is essential but we will "take advantage" of something said by others (with due credits mentioned).
So, we can continue to make known, artists and music in general in a way more quickly and not making the mistake of writing the same as many.
These measures will come into force starting this moment and will continue until some unexpected arises and necessary new amendment.
Frida Hyvönen - Silence Is Wild 2008
Swedish singer-songwriter, Frida Hyvönen, grew up in a small place in the north of Sweden, Robertsfors.
She was born in 1977 and since 2004 is beginning to be known in musical terms. In 2005 released the first album called, Until Death Comes, a album with some renown.
In 2007 came the second , Frida Hyvönen Gives You : Music from the Dance Performance PUDEL. This is the first of what is intended as a series entitled, Frida Hyvönen Gives You. This one was originally produced for a performance of the dance choreographer Dorte Olsen. Silence Is Wild is the third, and if the previous albums were good, the latest appears to be much better.
You may already have heard the other sounds, because she recorded a cover of REM, Everybody Hurts, in autumn 2007

Lovers Electric - Whatever You Want 2008 (Repost)
Lovers Electric is an electro pop band from Adelaide, Australia. Band members David Turley and Eden Boucher founded the group whilst in London in 2006. The internet radio station KGRL featured the band as their “Flower-Powered Artist” for April 2007. After touring the United States, they toured Europe from May-July 2007 as support for re-formed 80s band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) playing to sold-out venues and developing "Synth Fever", widely accepted as a serious issue in electro pop circles.
In March 2008 Lovers Electric singed with Sony BMG Australia, and released their debut album, Whatever You Want, on the 23rd of August.

Formedin 2003 by Nicholas Delffs and Colin Anderson, The Shaky Hands are a rock group from Portland, Oregon.
The band began to gain fans all over the place, its vibrant performances, the unmistakable voice of Nick Delffs and the awards earned over 4 years, as the Willamette Week's annual Best New Band, led the band to sign contract with Holocene Music.
The Shaky Hands’ self-titled debut, released in 2007 was no surprise to the people who already know this band because the album approximates the irresistibly frenetic Shaky Hands live experience.
Now they have a new album, Lunglight, promoted by Holocene Music and Kill Rock Stars. Two months after they sign with Kill Rock Stars, Colin Anderson left the group but Nathan Delffs took Anderson's place on the drums. Listen to Lunglight and have a nice surprise.

It's not a recent launch, because it was launched in April, but deserves positive note, so here are the details of the latest work of Elbow,
The Seldom Seen Kid, that is already the fourth album of this band from Manchester, and the first produced and mixed by the Elbow.
Recently they received the Mercury prize with The Seldom Seen Kid, despite strong competition from Radiohead, Burial, Robert Plant or The Last Shadow Puppets.
Mercury Prize take place in London since 1992. Normally, soon after announcing the nominees for the trophy, the bands show an increase in sales of its disks. The nominees are chosen by a small number of people involved in the music industry in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In recent years, artists such as Franz Ferdinand, Antony & the Johnsons, Pulp, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, Talvin Singh or Portishead took the prize for home.
When receiving the award, Guy Garvey, singer of the group, referred to the fact as "the best thing that has happened in" and dedicated the prize to Brian Glancy, a friend of the band who died recently and that motivated the title of the album that "celebrates his life," revealed. According to the musician "any person who has made music in Manchester know who he was." At the ceremony, Guy Garvey said that "The trophy will be presented to Mandy Glancy, the mother of Brian."

Kim Novak - Luck and Accident 2007
Kim Novak is a four-piece band from Normandy, France.
Inspired by bands such as The Cure, Tindersticks and Joy Division, Kim Novak can easily be compared with other bands like, Editors or Interpol… Luck and Accident is the first album and was recorded in december 2006 and released on May 2007 by Talitres Records.
They take their name from the famous American actress of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo.
“As French imports go, Luck & Accident may not be quite up there with Thierry Henry or Brigitte Bardot, but it still makes a one-way Eurostar ticket seem cheap at twice the price.”

Andy Yorke is the younger brother of Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, and Simple is his first solo album.
Is not easy being the brother of the Radiohead singer, there is always the tendency to compare the two. But at the time of Unbelievable Truth was the same thing and people were able to give credit to Andy performance, and with Simple will be the same.
"The forthcoming album is the solo debut that almost never was. In the 1990s I was lead singer and co-songwriter of Oxford-based band Unbelievable Truth, which released the album Almost Here on Virgin Records in 1998, and second album Sorrythankyou on Shifty Disco in 2000. When I quit the band in 2000, I swore never to get involved in music again… But after five years following a totally different career path, I found myself with a collection of songs that I had begun writing despite myself. The songs began as music written for my own benefit, but for the first time I was solely responsible for the entire writing process from start to finish, and that was liberating. Things that once seemed complicated now became simple. A lot of the songs on the album are about this happening to me in all kinds of ways."

The Dø - A Mouthful 2008
"The Dø is a French rock duo formed by musician and soundtrack composer Dan Levy and French/Finnish singer Olivia Bouyssou Merilahti.
They met while recording the music for the film Empire of the Wolves, and they then continued to collaborate for the films, The Passenger and Camping sauvage."
"A Mouthful is the result of this union, the album was released on 14 January 2008. The Dø is known to incorporate a great range of instruments in their songs, as well as being a duet completing each other member, Merilahti bringing the melody, and Levy the symphonic or jazzy structure. Most of the lyrics are written in English, the rest being in Finnish. It is not known yet if the band will release songs in the French language."

Almost two years later, The Walkmen have their forth album. You & Me is the result of those years,
Chris Zane e John Agnello are the producers of this work released by Gigantic Music.
"You and Me offers a distinctive twist to the "Walkmen” sound of their first three records. Each song shows focus, and an up-beat enthusiasm apparent in all lyrics, music, and performances. It is a long record, clocking in at just under an hour, and it presents a wide range of ideas. The pacing is very important, as the band felt it was essential to set the right tone, and show each song in its proper light."
