Strange Worlds first release is with Universal Vibes is infact a mile stone. Simplicity is the operative word best to describe this release.
The over sexed sax solo of Sexaphone (a one take wonder performed by Ben Hadwen) takes house music to a new level, whilst Danote on the other hand reflects on the hypnotic repetition of the hook, building a solid groove around a repeating synth line, appearing here in two versions, the stripped back extended mix and the more immediate club edit.
DARKO/STRANGE WORLDS BIOG
Born & bred in London, UK, Darko's talent for music was soon to flourish due to the influence of his older brother's record collection. Branko took on the task of management and helped Darko to develop his skills further.
An experienced jazz musician Darko managed to hone the skills needed to be where he is now fully matured. His sound has attracted the attention of DJ's from all over the world and in 2005 was given the opportunity to remix the title track of Nina Miranda's (Smoke City) album SHRIFT which earned him world wide acclaim when the remix reached the top 10 in the US Download Charts (2006).
After a spiritual journey to Thailand Darko was to meet with Jason Miles and Rupert Davies who themselves have history that spans the last 3 decades of dance music. This union was to be a force to be reckoned with, and from this Strange Worlds then became a reality.
Armed with a studio, a 35k Funktion One/Martin Audio custom soundsystem, Strange Worlds started to throw party's, but not the ordinary party's that you hear about in bars, clubs & peoples houses. No, these party's were so underground and held in some of the most ridiculous places you'd consider. A warehouse in the edge of London, 2 mansions in London's prestigous Hampstead (one of these made it into the national press, and the other was an empty indoor swimming pool with the DJ box being the jacuzzi), an underground carpark, an outdoor carpark and a scrap yard. From this a reputation was formed as the only people in London who have taken raving back to the good old days when rave was FUN.
Darko's DJ career was soon to become a reality when the 4th and final member of Strange Worlds joined the team Sasha Rakas AKA: Mr.Rakas. Sasha's influence on Darko was fundamental and soon he discovered a new way of DJ'ing, a performance.
Now Darko & Mr.Rakas are embarking on a DJ partnership, blending deep minimal house with eastern european Romani Gypsy jazz to sexier side of techno. Both have performed at some of London's biggest clubs and European festivals EXIT & Bestival where both Darko and Mr.Rakas had the crowds screaming for more. As the last stage @ Bestival closed, the Loose Tea Party tent saw Darko take a festival on a 6hr journey. The tent was full, it was the only place where you could hear music so anyone who couldn't get in the tent found them selves rocking outside. During all this Darko was unaware of the thousands of people that congregated yet the atmosphere was electric. The unknown DJ who came to Bestival unaware of what was to happen, now is revealing himself to everyone.�
